About this map
This tracker plots 1,769 data center facilities across the United States and Canada. Each point is a real, mapped facility — from multi-gigawatt AI campuses to single-building colocation sites.
Where the data comes from
Locations are sourced from OpenStreetMap, the open geographic database, used under the ODbL licence. We de-duplicate facilities, assign each one to its state or province, and refresh the dataset regularly. Some facilities are unpublished or under construction, so the true totals are higher than any public map can show — treat these numbers as a verified floor, not a ceiling.

Training and running AI models has set off the largest data-center construction boom in history. Where these facilities get built decides where billions in investment, thousands of jobs, and gigawatts of electricity demand land next. This site tracks that build-out.

This map tracks 1,693 mapped facilities in the US. The real number is higher — some sites are unpublished, secret, or still under construction. Analyst estimates for all US data centers (including small private server rooms) run into the thousands.
Who operates the most data centers?
Amazon Web Services leads this dataset with 238 facilities, followed by Digital Realty (79), Google (71), Microsoft (60), Meta (59).
How is an AI data center different from a normal one?
